Contemporary Alucobond® Blends With Historic Stone in Seminary Learning Center

The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, situated on 14 park-like tree-shaded acres, has been a community presence in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Northwest Philadelphia since the 1880s. Classes at the 500-student campus – originally founded in 1864 and a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America – have been held in a hodgepodge of historic spaces, including the dining rooms of professors who reside in campus housing.

Georgia Aquarium’s Design Includes Alucobond Material Cladding

“Architecture meant to reflect the relationship between mankind and the world’s oceans,” is a highlight statement by Atlanta-based Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates (TVS) in commentary about the firm’s design contributions to the new Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta. Alucobond® Material and Alucobond® Plus Material were used as exterior cladding panels to help suggest a ship’s hull as part of the architectural design of the Georgia Aquarium. As aluminum composite materials (ACM), the Alucobond panels consist of two sheets of .02” aluminum thermobonded to a plastic core.

Mamaroneck, NY, High School Addition Fulfills Master Planning Solution

As the population of the Mamaroneck Union Free School District in Mamaroneck, N.Y., has grown through the years to its current 4,800-plus students, so have its building space requirements. Mamaroneck High School, which is educational home to 1,335 students, includes a number of additions that stretch from its original 1926 Post Road location to a former junior high school located approximately one-quarter mile away.

Award-Winning Marine Terminal Features Alucobond® Material

The Alaska Marine Highway System had a history of using wooden buildings, which related to the traditional style of ferry terminals. Yet, in keeping with the System’s move to high technology in equipment, facilities and computerized reservation systems, Alucobond Material was chosen for the cladding of its new Valdez ferry terminal building, completed in late 2004. Smaller dockside structures were also clad with the material.
